Letter, 1863 Oct. 10 (Spartanburg, S.C.) to "My dear Parents."

Letter, 10 Oct. 1863, to her parents, Nimrod Donaldson and Sarah Reid McCullough Donaldson, describing crowded conditions at Spartanburg Female College, "Some rooms have as many as seven girls in them"; states that [W. E.] Blake was not accepting students; mentions her courses in algebra, chemistry, philosophy, and geometry; commenting on the food and Blake's efforts to procure food..."people will not let him have provisions for love nor money." Transcribed copy of letter with notes (completed 10 Oct. 1975 by Donaldson's grandson, David H. Sullivan), provides details about persons and locations mentioned in letter, including members of the Donaldson and Sullivan families, and others.
